Goals as an educator:



In my first years as an educator, I have already been exposed to some of the numerous obstacles and challenges that come along with teaching in an urban environment.  I know that I will continue to face these and other challenges in the next few years.  I hope to continue to meet these challenges with energy and a readiness to ask for help when it is needed.  I do not believe one is ever truly "finished" with his/her education, but rather that we are all in different stages of the process of education.



I also set the goal for myself to work diligently and conscientiously to better my practice through inquiry and analysis of my own classroom, as well as the help and advice of others in my school community.  I hope to continue to learn from my students and their rich cultural and linguistic backgrounds, as I believe that there should be space for teachers to be students, and for students to be teachers.  



I plan to continue participating in and initiating study groups to learn more about teaching and best practices by speaking about my experiences with colleagues.  I believe that there is strength in numbers and that as educators it is imperative that we find allies in order to gather strength and energy to continue to provide the best possible instruction for every student.



Lastly, I plan to continue to develop my own knowledge of my second language, as well as in the fields of Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language Education.  I believe that the more ways I am prepared to communicate and reach students the better able I will be to meet the needs of my class as a whole.
